Ranchi: A three-year-old kid from Gumla has tested negative for malignancy after two months of treatment blood cancer.
Speaking to TOI, senior oncologist Dr Gunjesh Kumar of Bhagwan Mahaveer Medica Superspeciality Hospital said, “Ritik’s parents brought him to the hospital on May 24 with complaints of fever, lymph nodes, weakness, and loss of appetite. He was diagnosed with lymphoblastic lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. He was suffering from stage-three cancer.”
Ritik underwent eight cycles of chemotherapy over two months and will continue according to the targeted therapy programme for another two months. However, the recovery in him has given hope to the patient as well as doctors.
“The patient tested negative for malignancy on Saturday. He was an immobile kid when I met him for the first time. But now, he moves around, plays, and has regular meals as he has developed appetite,” said Dr Gunjesh.
“The doctor has been liGodsend for us. We had lost all hope. However, Dr Gunjesh not only got us free treatment under Ayushman Bharat but also helped us financially,” said Bimla Devi, Ritik’s mother.
