Gurgaon: A resident of The Close North, a group housing society in Sector 50, was arrested on Monday for allegedly assaulting a security guard. The resident, according to police, got enraged after a technical fault in the society’s lift as he was stuck in it for a few minutes.
Ashok Kumar (30), who is from UP and currently lives in Tigra village, works with a security agency, is posted at The Close North, a group housing residential society in Nirvana Country. On Monday, Kumar was on duty when one of the lifts of the society developed a technical snag.
A resident —Varun Nath — got into the lift from his floor and was unaware about the technical fault. He got stuck inside the lift for a few minutes from around 7.50am Even after reaching the ground floor, the lift remained closed for a few minutes. But the lift was opened with the help of security guards.
Ashok in his complaint filed with the police alleged that Nath was angry soon after coming out of the lift and started abusing the guard and slapped him. Also, an enraged Nath kicked the lift multiple times and continued to hurl abusive language on the security guard.
The entire incident was captured on the CCTV camera installed in the lobby of the society. During the day, the CCTV footage went viral. Later in the evening, the police registered a case against him under IPC sections 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) at Sector 50 station based on the complaint of the security guard. The accused was a rrested and released on bail.
DCP (east) Virender Vij said police have received a complaint from the guard and a case has been registered under relevant sections. “The accused has been arrested and released,” he said.
