Emirates airlines have suspended all its flights to Baghdad on August 30 over security concerns. The airlines said this on a statement published on their website.
Due to reports of civil unrest and curfews across Iraq Emirates, flights to/from Baghdad have been cancelled. Customers have been made aware of this through the airlines’ official website.
Affected passengers should contact their respective Emirates Call Centre or travel agents for rebooking options.
The statement came after chaos erupted in Baghdad following Iraqi cleric, Muqtada Al sadr’s announcement of quitting politics on Monday. This resulted in his followers storming into Iraq’s presidential palace. It caused death of 12 people.
Meanwhile, Kuwait has urged its citizens in Iraq to leave and advised against travel to the country, state news agency Kuna said on Monday.
The Kuwaiti Embassy in Baghdad asked those who are currently in Iraq to contact its emergency line 0096407802604123.
