Jaisalmer district collector Tina Dabi and municipal council chairman Harivallabh Kalla on Monday evening inaugurated one such garbage bin. Former Jila Pramukh Anjana Meghwal was also present. This bin will remain safe for 20-30 years. If this pilot project is successful, then more bins will be placed. Prior to this, many women were administered oath to ban plastic. Cloth bags were distributed at Hanuman Chauraha. Three underground bins have been placed in the city and now garbage heaps will not be seen in the open. The bin was kept at Pratap Maidan.
Kalla said bins are being made with technical help from Jagriti Foundation, Ajmer and municipal council and Moloh Limited company of Finland. A railing has been put around the bin. It will be the responsibility of the municipal council to take care and empty the bin at regular intervals.
