Jaipur: Senior BJP leader and former chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Sunday termed the present situation in the state as “anarchy”. Targeting Congress leaders, she said those in power in the state have forgotten the concerns of the people due to their concerns for their chairs.
“The state which was at the forefront of education, health, roads, electricity and water conservation in the country at our time is today number one in crime, atrocities against women and Dalits, corruption and communal frenzy,” said Raje in her address at the All India Haryana Gaud Brahmin Mahasabha Pratibhavan Chhatra Vidyarthi Samman Samaroh.
She said her government had enacted a law to give reservation to the upper castes. “In 2019, Modi ji’s central government implemented 10 per cent reservation for backward upper castes. We are all grateful to Modi ji for this,” she said.
Recalling that during her tenure she had built a memorial of Lord Parshuram at Matrikundia in Chittorgarh district, Raje said: “During the period, 125 temples were constructed at a cost of Rs 550 crore. Memorials of 50 gods and goddesses and great men were built at a cost of Rs 110 crore”.
Stating that her government should have been given the opportunity to serve further, Raje said though the party that does good work should get an opportunity again, it did not happen in her case. “Had we got the opportunity again (2018), incomplete works would have been completed and our state would have been far ahead in terms of development,” said Raje.
Former minister Kali Charan Saraf, MP Ram Charan Bohra, former BJP state president Ashok Parnami and former women’s commission chairperson Suman Sharma were among those present at the event.
