MEERUT : A10-year-old boy was seen carrying the body of his two-year-old brother in his arms on Saturday after allegedly struggling to get a shav vahan (hearse) to transport the body from a hospital in UP’s Baghpat. The incident was shot on video and soon went viral.
The boy, Sagar Kumar, could be seen walking a distance of around 50 m, followed by his father. They had picked up the body from the post-mortem house in the hospital.
As per police, the two-yearold child was crushed to death on Friday after his stepmother allegedly threw him under a car near a bank in Baghpat, on Delhi-Saharanpur highway, because he was crying incessantly. Circle officer of Baghpat, Devendra Kumar Sharma, said, “A case was registered against the woman under IPC and she was arrested.
>” The body was handed over to his father, daily wage labourer Praveen Kumar. He accompanied by his relative Rampal and son. Rampal alleged that Praveen repeatedly requested a health official to provide a vehicle to carry the body. “But they didn’t pay any heed to his request,”he said.
