During the Reliance Industries (RIL) Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2022, the company announced that Jio would commit Rs 2 lakh crores in investment for 5G roll out pan-India.

RIL chairman and MD, Mukesh Ambani, took the centerstage to announce a commitment of Rs 2 lakh crores Jio’s pan-India 5G network. He said that Jio has planned the world’s fastest 5G rollout plan.

Jio plans to launch 5G across multiple cities by Diwali. “By Dec 2023, we will deliver 5G to every town of India,” said Mukesh Ambani at the RIL AGM.

Recently, India offered 72,098 MHz of 5G spectrum in an auction which totaled Rs 4.3 lakh crores. Jio had bought 48 per cent of the spectrum sold by offering Rs 88,000 crores.

Adding on Jio’s agenda, Ambani said that Jio 5G will be world’s largest and most advanced 5G network. The company’s standalone 5G will apparently have zero dependency on the company’s 4G network.

“With Jio 5G, we will connect every-one, every-place and every-thing with the highest quality and most affordable data. In addition to meeting India’s needs, we are confident of offering digital solutions to global markets,” said he added.

Speaking on the ambitions of Jio 5G, the RIL chairman shared that it intends to create digital connectivity to reach out to 100 million homes with unparallel digital experiences and smart homes solutions.

Jio has struck partnerships with tech giants including Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, Nokia, Samsung, Google, Meta, and Qualcomm to bring forth its Jio 5G vision.
