Minimum support price and other facilities will be provided based on the survey reports, said Kodagu DC Sateesha B C
MADIKERI: The crop survey work for this monsoon season will start in September across the Kodagu district. Minimum support price and other facilities will be provided based on the survey reports, said Kodagu DC Sateesha B C.
In all, there are 2,90,972 survey numbers at 525 villages in the district, and of these, crop survey needs to be done in 2,60,610 cultivated lands. Kodagu deputy commissioner said that in accordance with the government's order, farmers themselves can record the details of the crops they have grown by them.
Farmers in the district can download 'Farmer Crop Survey App-2022-23' from Google Playstore on to their smartphones and record the details of crops grown in their fields. A total of 353 skilled individuals have been appointed in villages to teach farmers on how to use the mobile app, the DC said.
Shabana M Sheikh, joint director of the agriculture department, said the information, thus uploaded, will be checked and approved by government officials (called "supervisors") appointed for each village. As many as 96 supervisors will be appointed in the district.
If crop details and photographs recorded by the farmers do not match, then the supervisors will reject such information and send it to skilled individuals for a resurvey, Sheikh said.
Agriculture department assistant director Narayana Reddy said the survey data is necessary to identify eligible beneficiaries under the minimum-support price (MSP) scheme and crop insurance scheme. "The survey is also needed for statistical department and for carrying out crop harvesting experiments in agriculture, horticulture and sericulture departments," he said, and requested farmers to report the details of crops grown by them within the stipulated time.
