PATNA: A group of around 25 criminals looted construction materials and goods worth lakhs of rupees from the camp office of Patna metro rail near J P Ganga Path under the Buddha Colony police station area in the city in the early hours of Saturday. The criminals, who had come on a boat, held the security guards hostage at gunpoint while looting the construction materials.
According to police, the incident took place between 12.30am and 2am "Four security guards were on duty at the site.
"The robbers forced them to sit in the dug-up area while committing the crime," police said.

SHO of Buddha Colony police station Nihar Bhushan said the criminals were in their 40s. "They snatched the cellphones of the security guards and looted construction materials, heavy iron bars and other goods. They then loaded the looted items on the boat and escaped. The robbers were at the site for at least an hour," he added. Bhushan said the robbers were probably sand mining mafias and they came from the diara area. "We have begun an investigation into the investigation. There was no CCTV camera at the site," he added.
One of the guards, Vimlesh Rohta, said the robbers snatched their cellphones and identity cards at gunpoint and forced them to sit in the dug-up area. "They threatened us with dire consequences if we raised an alarm. After they left around 2am, we brought the matter to the knowledge of the supervisor following which a complaint was lodged at the police station around 4am," he said.
