Gurugram: Police on Friday seized over 1,400 bottles of illicit liquor from a warehouse in Bilaspur and arrested one person. The illicit liquor was meant for Gujarat, cops said.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Bilaspur police station raided the warehouse of a logistics company on Friday. Upon checking 30 big blue colour drums stored in the warehouse, cops found 1,424 liquor bottles. When the assistant manager of the godown was asked for documents, he could not produce the same.
During preliminary investigation, police came to know that the consignment of the illicit liquor was picked up from the Kundli border and shifted to this warehouse in a car. “The liquor bottles were to be further supplied to Gujarat. We found some fake invoices showing the same as cosmetics,” said a police officer. “Assistant manager Arun Singh was arrested for storing the illicit liquor.”
An FIR has been registered at Bilaspur police station under sections 420 (cheating and dishonesty), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of IPC and under the Punjab Excise Act, 1914. “We are looking into the involvement of more people in the illegal liquor case. Raids are being conducted,” the police official added.
