The Supreme Court had on August 31, 2021 ordered the demolition of the towers for violation of building norms.

The Supertech Twin Towers in Noida were demolished in nine seconds using waterfall implosion technique on Sunday afternoon. The demolition was carried out using over 3,500 kg of explosives.

Here is a look at before and after of the twin towers that were brought to the ground for violating norms.

The nearly 100-metre-high structures were brought to the ground in seconds literally like a house of cards, in a breathtaking spectacle of modern day engineering at around 2:30 pm.

An official of Edifice Engineering, the company which was tasked with the demolition, said there was no damage to the residential towers in the adjoining Emerald Court society.

The demolition of the structures leaves behind an estimated 55,000 tonnes to 80,000 tonnes of debris. (Photo: India Today)

The focus has now shifted to cleaning the mountain of debris present at the demolition site. Noida officials have deployed sanitation workers, smog guns, and mechanical sweeping machines to clean up the concrete and metal pieces spread across the demolition site.
