Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone of Maruti Suzuki’s third plant, after Gurugram and Manesar, at Industrial Model Township (IMT), Kharkhoda in Sonipat on August 28.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and deputy CM Dushyant Chautala along with various central ministers and MPs will attend. Around 800 acres were purchased for Rs 2,400 crore. The total project cost is estimated to be around Rs 20,000 crore and will generate 11,000 skilled, unskilled and semi-skilled jobs.
Khattar said that the third plant will be a new milestone in the industrial progress of Haryana, which has become a major automobile manufacturing hub in the country. “At present, about 50% of cars made in India are manufactured in Haryana. Along with Maruti car, the foundation stone of Suzuki’s bike manufacturing plant will also be laid here. This huge investment being made by Maruti and Suzuki Company is certainly going to open doors of employment. Kharkhoda will soon become at par with Gurugram and Manesar,” Khattar said.
