JAIPUR: Jaipur reverberated with gunshots with three different cases of firing within 15 hours in Shivdaspura, Mahesh Nagar, and Moti Dungari.
In Shivdaspura, a jeweller and his nephew were returning home from their shop on a bike when three masked men on a bike waylaid them. The accused opened fire and snatched their bag containing gold and silver items worth over Rs 10 lakh.
Police said that the firing and loot incident took place sometime shortly after 10.30 pm on Wednesday.
The second incident of firing took place outside in Mahesh Nagar wherein a history-sheeter and his aides allegedly fired at a closed eatery shop following a tiff with its owner at 1 am on Thursday.
The Mahesh Nagar police said that the accused, Rahul Saini, has been arrested for the act and efforts are underway to track down his aides.
Similarly, unidentified suspects attacked a man in the Moti Dungari area at 1 pm in full public view. SHO (Moti Dungari) Surendra Pancholi said suspects fired at Asif Qureshi when he was going to his children's school.
The accused then attacked Asif with a sharp weapon due to which he sustained major injuries. He was transported to SMS hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
"We are searching for suspects. The victim in the case also has multiple cases filed against him," Pancholi said.
The city police have not revealed if the incident is a case of a gang fight.
The three firing incidents took place in the wake of a sensational robbery at the house of a wheat trader in Galta Gate area on Wednesday at around 8.30 pm.
While the crime branch had launched a special operation against illegal weapons and nabbed several suspects, yet firings by armed gangs remain a major concern in the city.
These cases have also raised questions about the patrolling during the night hours in Jaipur.
