(Source: PR handout)The last rites of actor and BJP leader Sonali Phogat, who was allegedly murdered in Goa, were held here on Friday in Hisar. Her 15-year-old daughter Yashodhara lit the funeral pyre at the cremation ground in Rishi Nagar.
On Thursday evening, her body was brought to her farmhouse in Hisar from Goa to enable people pay their Phogat’s family members had on Thursday evening bought her body from Goa to Hisar. On Friday a large number of people turned up at Phogat’s farmhouse to pay their last respects.
Haryana minister Kamal Gupta, who is the MLA from Hisar, and BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi, against whom she had contested the 2019 Assembly polls from Adampur, were present.
Bishnoi said, “I request the government that a CBI probe should be recommended without any delay. I have also spoken to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in this regard.” On Thursday, Khattar had said his government will consider handing over the case to the CBI if the Phogat family wanted so.

Haryana’s Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda too demanded that CBI probe her death.
Addressing a press conference in Rohtak, Hooda said, “It is a very serious matter. Many questions are being raised by the family. The government should get a CBI inquiry conducted in this case to satisfy the concerns raised by the bereaved family.”
