MUMBAI: Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis told the legislative council on Thursday that Mumbai will get 6,000 more CCTV surveillance cameras in addition to the 6,000 that are already in use across the city..
"Now, CM Eknath Shinde has directed BMC commissioner I S Chahal to exclude trenching costs for contractors as it is a government job, and new CCTV cameras should come up on urgency for tackling street crimes," he said.
He announced that the state will propose a law to include stringent punishment for 'abetment' of offence and not just for possession and consumption.
He said forensic labs will be modernised.
