Jaipur: The performance of monsoon in Rajasthan, considered a dry state, has been excellent this season. Twenty-seven out of the state’s 33 districts have received excess rainfall so far while the remaining six have recorded normal rainfall.
Till Thursday evening, the state has received an average rainfall of 536.1 mm against 350.1 mm received till August 25, 2021, which is 53% higher compared to last year, said the Jaipur Met office on Thursday while releasing the average rainfall figures of state and various districts. Rainfall activity in the state will subside in the next five days, added the Met office.
As per the data, districts that received excess rainfall this year are Ajmer, Banswara, Baran, Barmer, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Churu, Dausa, Dungarpur, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Jalore, Jhalawar, Jodhpur, Kota, Nagaur, Pratapgarh, Pali, Rajsamand, Sriganganagar, Sikar, Sirohi, Tonk and
Udaipur.
“These are the districts where the rainfall recorded is more than what was recorded in these areas till August 25, 2021. Since the monsoon is on the verge of completion in the next one fortnight, these districts would be in the category of places that recorded excess rainfall,” said a senior official of the Jaipur Met office.
Jaipur has fared well. “At Jaipur, an average rainfall of 560.3 mm of rainfall was received till Tuesday against 426.6 mm rainfall received till August 25, 2021. It shows that Jaipur this year has received 31% excess rainfall,” the official added.
Pratapgarh received the highest rainfall in the state in this season so far as an average rainfall of 1,035.2 mm was recorded in this district till Tuesday against a rainfall of 713.5 received last year till this period. Jhunjhunu is the district that has received the lowest rainfall in the state so far. An average rainfall of 337.9 mm was recorded here against a rainfall of 332.7 received in 2021.
Districts where normal rainfall has taken place are Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Jhunjhunu, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur.
Jaipur Met office said rainfall activity will subside in the state in the next five days. “Except some scattered thundershowers, there is no possibility of heavy rainfall in the next five days,” said an official with the Met office.
