CHENNAI: The Royapettah police have named former Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam as the first accused in the AIADMK party headquarters ransacking case while former MP Vaithilingam and former MLA Manoj Pandian have been named as accused number two and three, respectively.
The AIADMK headquarters in Royapettah was ransacked by supporters of Panneerselvam on July 11 while a party general council meeting was being held in Vanagaram on the outskirts of Chennai to elect Edappadi K Palaniswami as party’s interim general secretary.
The police registered the case based on AIADMK leader C Ve Shanmugam’s complaint. In his complaint, Shanmugam stated that the party’s property documents and other items had been stolen.
Later, Shanmugham approached the Madras high court seeking transfer of the case to the CBI or the CB-CID. The government informed the high court on Thursday that the case had been transferred to the CB-CID. Three other cases registered by the Royapettah police in connection with the clashes at the AIADMK party headquarters have also been transferred to the CB-CID.
