BSF troops foil smuggling bid in J&K’s Samba, recover 8kg heroin

Border Security Force (BSF) troops have foiled a smuggling bid in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba region and recovered 8kg of heroin.

Border Security Force (BSF) troops on Thursday foiled a smuggling bid along the border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba region and recovered 8 kg of heroin from a Pakistani intruder. The security personnel also shot at the intruder, injuring him.

The BSF troops noticed the suspicious man carrying one bag crossing the border. Alert BSF troops immediately fired on the intruder and injured him.

A search revealed eight packets (weighing about 1 kg each) of narcotics on his person. The narcotics is likely to be heroin, although a laboratory test is yet to be conducted.

The injured smuggler, however, managed to flee back to Pakistan, leaving a bloody trail.

Jammu and Kashmir police, on Tuesday, arrested two people in a narcotics peddling case. The police recovered a total of 400 Corex cough syrup bottles with banned substances.
