L​akshya Sen has won several medals throughout his career with the latest ones being a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and a bronze medal at the World Championship last year. He also seem confident of securing another medal at this tournament. HS Prannoy, on the other hand is a seasoned player and has played at the highest level for a number of years now. He however is still looking to get his first medal at the Worlds.

Indian shuttlers HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen are all set to go up against each other in an all-Indian pre-quarterfinal match that will take place today. The 27th edition of the tournament will take place in Tokyo.

Lakshya Sen has won several medals throughout his career with the latest ones being a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in and a bronze medal at the World Championship last year. He also seem confident of securing another medal at this tournament.

HS Prannoy, on the other hand is a seasoned player and has played at the highest level for a number of years now. He however is still looking to get his first medal at the Worlds.

These are the only two Indian players left in the men's singles competition, but after the 16th round, only one of them will advance further.

Prannoy had previously won the game against Japanese star Kento Momota in the 31st round. He won the match with 21-17, 21-16 points. He has hopes of coming up with a similar sort of performance against Lakshya, but it isn't going to be easy. Sen is at the 10th position in the BWF rankings and will put up quite a fight.

Apart from Sen and Prannoy, two-time Commonwealth Games gold-medalist and 2012 London Olympics bronze medalist Saina Nehwal will also be seen in action at the women’s singles match at the 32nd round. She will take on world number 12, Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand.
