Shares of TIINDIA(up 1.66 per cent), Eicher Motors(up 0.89 per cent), Maruti Suzuki(up 0.37 per cent) and MRF(up 0.21 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Balkrishna Industries(down 2.13 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 1.27 per cent), TVS Motor Company(down 1.13 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 1.0 per cent) and Tata Motors(down 0.86 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.27 per cent down at 12877.9.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 82.5 points at 17522.45, while the BSE Sensex stood down 310.71 points at 58774.72.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 ended in the green, while 33 closed in the red.
Shares of , , BHEL, PNB and were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Total Transport Sys, SKP Bearing Industries Ltd., Rachana Infrastructure Ltd., and hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while , Veekayem Fashion & Apparels Ltd., , and hit their fresh 52-week lows.
