Local engineers said the pole had become slanted due to its age and weight.
CHENNAI: A day after TOI published a story on how a slanted electricity pole carrying high tension lines was posing a threat to residents, Tangedco on Wednesday replaced it with a new one.
Local engineers said the pole had become slanted due to its age and weight. "It was carrying up to eight power lines. We have replaced it with support in the base as well as from the sides. It will be strong now," said a local engineer.
The larger demand for residents is to replace the overhead lines with underground ones. Officials said this would be done once necessary funds are allotted.
TOI reported that high tension lines were passing in arm's reach from several apartments in the Mogappair area.
