Ranchi: The state government on Tuesday lauded the contribution of the multi-purpose workers (MHW) to the state’s health sector and said it will soon fill up 524 posts of MHWs.
State health minister Banna Gupta made the promise to fill up the post during a programme here on Tuesday.
Speaking at a seminar organised by the MHW group in Namkum area here, Gupta said, “The only reason why the health sector in Jharkhand is robust is because of the multi-purpose workers’ contribution. And keeping that in mind, we hiked their monthly wage by Rs 6,200 from January and it will be hiked further in the near future. Also, we will fill up the vacant posts soon.”
Currently, only 1,626 posts have been filled up, out of the sanctioned 2,150 MPW posts.
The MPWs are working to bring over 100 diseases under control across 243 blocks at present.
The minister also promised that their jobs will be made permanent and they will get the same facilities given to the state government employees.
