GURUGRAM: The Crime Branch in Farrukhnagar on Tuesday arrested three men for allegedly kidnapping two friends - a man and a woman - standing on the roadside in Chand Nagar. The duo was heading to Jamalpur from Farrukhnagar after attending a birthday party of a friend on Sunday night, the police said.
According to the police, the duo was waiting on the roadside in Chand Nagar for the girl's family to send a car to pick them up. A car did arrive at the spot, but the people inside the car were the accused. Two men alighted from the car. When the girl asked if the car was sent by Manoj (her brother), the men said yes and asked the duo to sit in the car.
On the way when the car took a different route, the duo got suspicious and started enquiring, following which they realised that they have been abducted. The duo attempted to get out of the moving car but the accused thrashed them and held them hostage. The accused called another person while the victims were forcefully kept seated in the car and taken to the fields in Fazilpur Badli.
The police received the information through a phone call from the girl's family at the control room that the two were missing. Upon investigation, the police learnt that the duo were taken to the fields in a car. When the police reached the spot, the accused attempted to flee in their Wagon R but were nabbed.
They have been identified as Aditya (25), Gaurav (24), and Deepak (24). The police said the trio was unemployed. During interrogation, Aditya and Gaurav said that they saw two people standing on the road side while they were on their way. Upon seeing the girl, they planned to kidnap them. They took the duo to the fields, thrashed them and snatched their mobile phones.
An FIR was registered at Farrukhnagar police station under 365 (kidnapping and abducting), 379A (theft), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 34 (common Intention) of the IPC.
"The men also held bad intention against the woman but due to timely action by the police, the victims were rescued safely. The Wagon R used in the crime has been seized," said ACP (Crime) Preet Pal Sangwan.
