PWD floated a tender in December 2021 to hire a consultancy firm for the 35-storey twin towers
NEW DELHI: The public works department (PWD) will finalise the financial bid of the best architect consultant for the twin tower project conceived to house Delhi government offices.
“We will complete the financial bid evaluation of the consultants within a week and then send the proposal to the government for its financial approval,” said a senior PWD official.
According to sources, last month, five companies made their presentation before a board of assessors comprising senior PWD officials and experts. The presentation was part of the overall tendering process to hire a firm of “comprehensive consultancy services”. The companies, which had already cleared the technical round, were called to give the presentation.
With several of its offices scattered around the city and limited space available at the Players’ Building near Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium from where the chief minister, his cabinet colleagues and top bureaucrats currently operate, the Delhi government has decided to build a new secretariat at Indraprastha Estate, where the MSO building and Vikas Bhavan, on the north and south of Vikas Marg, are located.
PWD floated a tender in December 2021 to hire a consultancy firm for the 35-storey twin towers. The government plans to construct the tallest building in the city as its main office with state of the art facilities like a helipad, conference hall, large auditoriums and a parking lot inside the complex, estimated to cost around Rs 1,910 crore.
The selected consultant will conceptualise the space utilisation and prepare architectural plans and a layout plan in such a way that the existing structures housing various offices of the Delhi government don’t have to be touched much. The combined area of the three buildings at ITO will be around 53,603 square metre.
“The consultant can have a foreign company as a partner firm. The consultant will be finalised soon,” said the PWD official.
