Surat: Services of as many as 37 traffic road brigade (TRB) jawans were terminated after it was found that they were irregular in duty.
Senior officials claimed that there were few other complaints against some individuals, who have been dismissed from duty.
“They were not only irregular but some other irregularities were also found against them during an inquiry. There were few complaints against them,” said Usha Rada, deputy commissioner of police, traffic, sector I.
Rada clarified that these jawans will not be taken back into service and action will be taken against those found indulging in unwarranted practices.
“The TRB jawan who had attacked a lawyer named Mehul Boghra has also been dismissed from the service,” added Rada.
The action comes on the heels of removal of six TRB jawans from the service for irregularities.
Senior traffic police officials have ben forced to act following the attack on Boghra by a TRB jawan and supervisor of the division Sajan Bharwad. Following his arrest, Bharwad was sent to five days in police custody on being produced in court on Saturday.
