Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.76%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Laurus(up 2.72 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 2.16 per cent), Lupin(up 1.84 per cent), Cipla(up 1.77 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 1.74 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Natco Pharma(down 1.42 per cent), Divis Laboratories(down 1.35 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 0.69 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(down 0.56 per cent) and Granules India(down 0.21 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.76 per cent up at 12683.55.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 86.8 points at 17577.5, while the BSE Sensex stood up 257.43 points at 59031.3.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 38 ended in the green, while 12 closed in the red.

Shares of , Zomato Ltd., YES Bank, and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of , , , Premier Exp and hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Karda Const, , Agni Green Power Ltd., and hit their fresh 52-week lows.
