In Riau Islands Province, Indonesia, the Bintan District Administration has created a target of luring 3,000 tourists from abroad to visit the area at the time of Tour de Bintan.
As the international sport tourism event would be attended by around 800 cyclists, the aim was quite practical as they were expected to attract their family members to Bintan as well. The participants of the event would come from countries like England, Australia, America, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, France, Germany, the Philippines and Hong Kong, in addition to other Indonesian regions.
From Singapore, the number of participants accounts for almost 40 percent of the total participants of Tour de Bintan, with the UK 13 percent, Australia 7 percent, Malaysia 4 percent, and 5 percent from Indonesia.
He said that on the basis of their experience in arranging this event, the average participant never come alone. To the event, many of them bring their family members and some bring their friends too.
At a number of luxury hotels located in the tourism area in Lagoi, Bintan, all participants of Tour de Bintan will be accommodated. He said that they put up in Lagoi because all participants start at Simpang Lagoi. He calculated that each and every participant will stay at the hotel for 3-5 days.
