Panaji: Goa University officials on Monday said that results of final year students of BA, BSc, BCom have been declared in the case of 99% colleges in the state. Only results of a couple of colleges are in the process of being finalised due to some technical issues and will be declared by August 24.
Various students’ groups have threatened to hold protests if the university does not declare the results this week. However, the university is already in the process of declaring the results with the convocation ceremony scheduled to be held at the Raj Bhavan at Dona Paula on Friday morning.
The convocation ceremony will be held in the presence of Goa University chancellor and governor P S Sreedharan Pillai and chief minister Pramod Sawant on August 26 from 10.30am at the Darbar Hall in Raj Bhavan.
“This year, due to the pandemic, the university had to give permission to affiliated colleges to hold final year exams. The colleges had to submit the details accordingly to Goa University and the results are then processed. The academic schedule was also delayed this year due to the pandemic and exams which are usually held in April-May were held in June-July. Yet, the results for 99% have been declared for final year students,” said a Goa University official.
Annually, at Goa University’s convocation ceremony, around 11,000 students are conferred with diploma, graduate, post graduate, post graduate diploma and doctorate degrees. Another 15 gold medals are also awarded to toppers in the different streams.
