Guwahati: The film-makers from Assam and other northeastern states do not need to go to Mumbai, Kolkata or Chennai for post-production work for their movies from now onwards as chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday dedicated a hi-tech audio-visual hub at Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio in Guwahati.
Sarma said the hub, which has been set up at a cost Rs 10 crore, will enable the film-makers to get their post-production work done using the latest technology. “The facilities at the hub will be available to the film producers at subsidised rates and will help them in post-production work, including picture and sound editing, sound mixing, visual effects, colour correction and graphic designing,” he added.
The CM said though the Covid-19 pandemic has had its impact on the Assamese film industry, the state government is taking several innovative steps to revive it.
Hailing the Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio for its role in promoting the art of film-making in the state, he said the institution has been evolving itself with changing times. “The institution, which was set up in 1961, was a manifestation of the dream of cultural doyen Rupknowar Jyoti Prasad Agrawala who made the first Assamese film ‘Joymati’ in 1935. Over the years, films have been a medium that reflect the aspirations of people,” he added.
