JD(S) MLA leads rally to dispute BJP functionary’s allegations

Mysuru/ Hassan: A fortnight after BJP activists gathered to protest against Arasikere MLA and JD(S) leader KM Shivalingegowda, the legislator, along with his supporters held a rally in a veritable show of strength in Hassan on Monday. Shivalingegowda was accompanied by scores of supporters at the rally. Responding to allegations levelled at him by BJP functionary NR Santhosh, the JD(S) leader asked the former to swear to the truth of the charges he had levelled in front of the deity at Dharmasthala.
The Arasikere MLA pointed to the work he had done over the past decade-and-a-half, and highlighted his commitment to the welfare of the people. Shivalingegowda said that he was a firm believer in the lessons of 12th century saint-poet Basavanna, adding that he was equally committed to realising Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of ‘Gram Swaraj’. tnn
