Tamil director N Lingusamy
CHENNAI: A metropolitan magistrate court in Saidapet awarded a six-month sentence to director-cum-producer N Lingusamy in a cheque fraud case on Monday.
The petition was filed by PVP Capitals, a finance company, after a cheque for ₹1 crore given to it by Lingusamy bounced.
In 2014, Lingusamy's film production company Thirupathi Brothers, run by the director and his brother N Subash Chandra Bose, borrowed ₹1 crore from PVP Capital to direct a film. Due to various reasons, the project fell through. But the money was not returned.
The finance company filed a petition against Lingusamy and his brother at the Madras HC. The court directed the duo to pay the money back. Following the order, Lingusamy gave a cheque for ₹1 crore to the company. But the cheque bounced and the firm filed the present petition.
