Cong seeks probe into Phogat’s death

Panaji: Congress on Tuesday demanded a “proper investigation” into the death of BJP functionary Sonali Phogat who was brought dead to a private hospital at Anjuna in North Goa earlier in the day.
Amarnath Panjikar, a Congress functionary, said they were “shocked by the death of a young BJP leader in Goa”.
“The details of the investigation should be made public. If not, it will send a wrong signal to the tourism industry,” said Panjikar.
The cause of her death is unknown as the postmortem has been scheduled for Wednesday and will be conducted by a panel of two doctors which has been formed on the request of the police, a Goa Medical College (GMC)official said.
Anjuna police have recorded the statement of Phogat’s friend and manager.
