BHUBANESWAR: The state government is planning to bring experts from medical, nursing, paramedics and allied sectors for conducting inspections in nursing and paramedical institutions instead of the usual practice of visits by district collectors and other officials.
Recently, a meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of skill development and technical education secretary Hemant Sharma regarding setting up and running of nursing, pharmacy and other allied medical institutions to achieve the overall objectives of improvement in the quality of allied medical education in the state. According to the minutes of the meeting, the practice of inspection, conducted by the district administration, including collector, additional district magistrate, block development officer, deputy collector and tehsildar, before issuing no objection certificate (NOC) to a nursing or paramedical institution, may be discontinued.
Instead the inspection may be done by experts in the medical or paramedical or nursing or allied science subjects. "Experts have a much better idea about the system. Secondly, district or block officials have many official engagements, and this work can overburden them," said an official who was present in the meeting.
