Teams of anti-terror agency National Investigation Agency (NIA) and domestic internal security and counter-intelligence agency Intelligence Bureau (IB) are likely to visit Russia to investigate an arrested Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) suicide bomber’s India links, said sources.
The Islamic State (IS) terrorist caught in Russia was allegedly planning to travel to India to attempt a suicide attack against "one of the representatives of the ruling circles of India".
According to sources, the teams of NIA and IB will meet with Russia's intelligence agency, Federal Security Service, and collect all information on the ISIS terrorist from the Russian intelligence agency to discover his India links.
“The FSB of the Russian Federation in Russia identified and detained a member banned in Russia by the international organization Islamic State, a native of a country in the Central Asian region, who planned to carry out an investigation on the initiative of one of the representatives of the ruling circles of India,” a statement issued by Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said.
According to sources, the ISIS suicide bomber caught in Russia was rediscovered by a Turkish handler via the Telegram app.
Sources said the ISIS terrorist was trained in Turkey and was preparing to come to India via Russia.
According to sources, the NIA will try to find out whether any Indian ISIS radical group is associated with this Telegram app.
The arrested terrorist has confessed that he was told by the handler about the remarks made against Prophet Muhammad in India.
