SFI gheraos Govt College principal

Thiruvananthapuram: Tension prevailed at Government College, Kariavattom, on Monday after SFI activists’ gheraoed the principal and staged a protest in front of her office demanding readmission to a student who was recently expelled from the college.
Earlier on the day, the expelled student met the principal to talk about his admission. But the principal denied the admission citing various reasons. The students did not allow the principal to leave her office.
Later, the Kazhakkoottam police reached the college, which led to mild tension. The SFI activists got into a verbal altercation with the police officers who tried to remove the protesting students from the office of the principal.
The police have taken five SFI activists into custody in connection with the protests.
