UPPSC sacks 80 subject experts from its panel

Prayagraj: Authorities of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission have sacked 80 subject experts from their panel of confidential consultancy which assists the commission in setting of questions papers, checking of the answer sheets and other academic expert opinions for examinations conducted by UPPSC.
The Commission said the subject experts have been dropped for underperformance and the decision is implemented with immediate effect.
As per the press release issued by UPPSC (dated August 21) and signed by the UPPSC examination controller, Ajay Kumar Tiwari, a review was undertaken of the working of the subject experts following, which around 80 experts have been dropped from the list for failing to deliver quality work and would not be allotted any confidential work by the commission.
This scrutiny of the quality of work by subject experts would continue further also and if anyone is found unable to meet the quality standards of the commission or if any anomaly in their working during making of question papers or evaluation of answer sheets is found, they too would be dropped from the list, Tiwari said in a press communiqué.
The Controller of Examinations of UPPSC has further said that to further improve the quality of recruitment examinations, the Commission has included eminent experts of the country as new members in its panel of subject experts and efforts are also being made to further expand it.
“Including subject experts in the panel is the continuous process and work of the 80 experts, names of whom have been dropped from the panel, would be given to other members who are there in our panel”, said public relation officer, UPPSC, Pushkar Srivastava.
Recently UPPSC had changed its policy in terms of the interview board of its most prestigious recruitment exam— the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Exam, commonly known as PCS.
Earlier, only those working as subject experts (professors from big educational institutions) as well as former and serving IAS and IPS officers were called as members of the interview board.
However, the scope of the panel of interview board members has been extended by UPPSC.
Now, senior officers of different state government departments, vice-chancellors of universities, former judges, army officers above the rank of Brigadier, senior scientists and class-1 officers of the central government besides serving and former IAS and IPS officers too would be called to serve as members of UPPSC’s interview boards.
