Panaji: The Goa Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the director of education for keeping aided school teachers waiting for their house building advance since May 2020.
The commission took suo motu cognisance of a news report on the issue and called for a reply from the director to reach it by September 20.
“…we are of the opinion that suo motu cognisance of the same should be taken as over seven months have passed after the state government reintroduced the new and revised House Building Advance (HBA) scheme and close to 300 teachers from aided schools across the state are still struggling to get the benefit. They are currently forced to pay 7.9% interest on their loans,” the commission stated.
