Kanpur: A 48-year-old bangle seller, sleeping outside his house, was brutally hacked to death by unknown assailants in Sadar Kotwali area of Kannauj district on Saturday night.
Police have started an investigation. They later shifted the body for the post-mortem examination.
The incident took place in Jalalpur Thakuran village of Sadar Kotwali police station area of the district.
"Kailash (48), a bangle seller, was sleeping outside the house, when he was attacked with sharp-edged weapons by some unidentified assailants at around two O'clock in the night. On hearing Kailash's screams, when his family members rushed to his rescue, they found him lying on the ground in a pool of blood," the police said.
On being alerted by the locals, the police rushed to the spot and rushed him to the district hospital, where the doctor declared him dead. The police thereafter initiated an investigation to zero-in on the perpetrators of crime. Superintendent of Police Kannauj Kunwar Anupam Singh said several police teams have been formed for an early breakthrough into the murder case.
