NOIDA: Education institutes must update their data on the students eligible for scholarships given by the UP government or face action, the district administration warned on Sunday.
Of 204 institutes, only 45 in Gautam Budh Nagar had updated the data on state government scholarships and the fee reimbursement system, officials learnt at a meeting held by district chief development officer Tej Pratap Mishra and attended by representatives of institutes.
“The educational institutes have been asked to update the master data of the students along with other required documents within the prescribed deadlines. We are ensuring that no students are left out of receiving government scholarships,” said Shailendra Singh, district social welfare officer.
At the meeting, CDO Mishra gave the institutes a deadline of Monday to do so. If they didn’t, action would be initiated under by the scholarship approval committee, he said.
According to the officials, students from other backward classes (OBCs) are eligible to get pre-matric and post-matric scholarships if the annual family income is not more than Rs 2 lakh. For SC and ST students, the income criteria should not be more than Rs 2.5 lakh.
