MYSURU: Amidst ‘Madikeri Chalo’ call by Congress and
BJP workers on August 26, the
Karnataka State Backward Classes Action Forum on Sunday announced to hold a communal harmony walk on the day.
The organisation will launch a padayatra from Kallahalli, the birthplace of former chief minister D Devaraj Urs in Hunsur on August 23 till Madikeri.
The forum’s chief KS Shivaramu, who is a staunch follower of Siddaramaiah, said the padayatra is to promote communal harmony in the state and to mark protest against social unrest. “Some of the developments in the state are dangerous to the future of Karnataka. There are efforts to create a wedge between communities on caste and religious lines. The padayatra is to register protest against it,” he told reporters.
