THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A couple committed suicide allegedly due to family disputes at Nedumangad here on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Rajesh (35) of Rajesh Bhavan near Paruthikuzhi at Puzhamalakkal in Nedumangad and his wife Aparna (26). After Rajesh was found hanging at his house, Aparna ended her life by consuming acid.
A few days ago, there was a heated exchange of words between the couple and Aparna left for her home, which is located just 150m away from Rajesh’s house, police said.
On Saturday night, Rajesh reached her house to pacify her and bring her back home. However, she didn’t go with him and he was very sad about it.
On Sunday morning, he was found hanging in his room by his friends who came to take him for painting works. The police were informed.
Aparna later committed suicide by consuming acid, which was kept at her house by her father for rubber tapping works. Though she was rushed to Trivandrum Medical College Hospital, her life could not be saved.
After Aparna left for home with their three-year-old child, Rajesh was living alone at home. Both their bodies have been kept at the medical college mortuary for postmortem on Monday.
