JAIPUR: Slamming Prime Minister
Narendra Modi over his remarks on freebies, chief minister Ashok Gehlot has stated that these are not to be termed as freebies rather they should be called social security schemes meant for the benefit of the common man.
"As India is celebrating 75th year of its independence we should ask if we are not capable enough to provide all basic facilities to our citizens which are required for their living. Our schemes like Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana Rajasthan are benefiting the people at large. It has covered all major health problems providing great relief to the citizens," said Gehlot while talking to the media persons in Jaipur on Sunday.
He recalled that recently some citizens who drowned were given the insurance sum of Rs 5 lakh and that had been due to the state government schemes. Taking a dig at the PM, he added that the central government is giving a pension of Rs 200 to a very limited number of people while Rajasthan is providing Rs 1000 to a vast section of beneficiaries.
