Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao hoists TRS flag before addressing a public meeting in Munugode on Saturday
HYDERABAD: TRS chief and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday said Munugode is not going to see just another bypoll. It would be a life-and-death election for the people of the constituency, he insisted. Speaking before a massive audience in Munugode, he said the entire country had its eyes on the constituency and the result will have national impact.
Making the debate on freebies an election issue, he claimed the Centre would fix electric meters on agricultural pumps if BJP won the election. "As long as I am alive, I won't allow fixing electric meters on pumpsets," he said at the public meeting, held just a day before Union home minister Amit Shah's visit to the constituency. "I won't stop Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Beema and other welfare schemes."
Congress MLA from Munugode, Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, resigned both from the assembly and Congress party recently, protesting against the leadership style of TPCC chief Revanth Reddy.
R aj Gopal will be joining BJP at Shah’s public meeting on Sunday. At the public meeting, the Telangana CM said, “You want KCR, who has been opposing electric meters, or Modi who has been insisting on them? Take it for granted, if BJP emerges victorious, electric meters is pucca.” He urged farmers, youth and elders to debate the issue in their villages. Munugode is about 90km from Hyderabad.
“All opposition forces should unite with TRS to fight BJP at the Centre. People should teach BJP a lesson for forcing an unnecessary byelection,” he said.
“BJP is trying to destabilise non-BJP governments with help of Eknath Shindes. Of the 119 seats in Telangana assembly, BJP has just three members and is threatening a government with 103 MLAs and seven supporters.” Addressing Modi directly, he said, “You don’t need a new enemy. Your biggest enemy is your ego. You are blinded by power which will spell your doom.”
He said Amit Shah should answer why the Centre could not finalise Telangana’s water share in Krishna river. He said he was not scared of ED
