Guv opens model UN at KIIT school

Bhubaneswar: Governor Ganeshi Lal on Saturday inaugurated the ninth edition of Model United Nations of KIIT International School here. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Refugee Challenges’.
The event, started in 2013, offers students a simulated platform to engage and deliberate on matters of national and international importance.
The governor shared his vision of a society that promotes an integrated education that brings the teachers, students and parents on the same pedestal. “Knowledge should promote the highest values of human development and imbibe simplicity and humility. Teachers have a big role in shaping the inner consciousness that encourages students to be truthful in his/her deeds and actions,” he said.
KIIT and KISS founder Achyuta Samanta said this year’s theme is vital because of the displacements happening across the globe on account of multiple issues. “Displacement is difficult, if it’s forced displacement, it is more difficult,” he said.
