Youth held for raping minor girl in Hailakandi

Silchar: A youth was arrested in Hailakandi district on Friday night for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl. On Saturday, he was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody, sources said.
The girl’s family had lodged an FIR with the local police station in connection with the incident. As per the complaint, the girl had gone to bring their goat from a jungle on Friday. The youth, who found the girl alone, raped her and threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed about the crime. After raping her, the youth fled leaving the girl in the jungle, the complaint said.. TNN
