Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday announced that Punjab and Haryana had agreed to name the Chandigarh International Airport in Mohali after freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
Mann tweeted, “Chandigarh’s International Airport will be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Punjab and Haryana have arrived at a consensus on this. Today, held a meeting with Haryana deputy CM Dushyant Chautala on this issue.”
After the meeting, Chautala said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh is one such martyr of the country’s freedom struggle who has inspired the youth of every generation. He said the Haryana and Punjab governments had reached a consensus on the name of the Chandigarh International Airport. Chautala said that since Haryana also had an equal share in the construction of the airport, the name of ‘Panchkula’ should also be added to its name.
