Kanpur: Police on Saturday banned the visit of BAMCEF leader Waman Meshram to the city. It has also banned all political and non-political activities and speech under section 144 Cr PC.
Joint police commissioner (Law & order) Anand Prakash Tiwari informed that due to various types of unlawful activities by individuals/organizations, a particular group had indulged in the incident of rioting, stone pelting violence etc that led to violence in the Beconganj police station area on June 3 last, and the effect of that incident was seen for a long time.
Though the situation improved after June 3, but in view of the possibility of disturbances any person or organization or group, which may from time to time raise the possibility of giving controversial, provocative and hate speeches etc, should not be permitted to do so as it might lead to breach of law & order, he said.
Waman Meshram had given an objectionable statement against Maharishi Valmiki on October 5,2021 in Meerut and from time to time he had given objectionable statements against Sanatan Dharma, hence this ex- parte order was being passed, he added. tnn
