Jaipur: A 29-year-old woman, irked by her husband’s drinking habit, attacked him with batons during early hours on Saturday at Khediya Biloch village under Rupwas police station area in Bharatpur district.
The man died due to profuse bleeding and head injury. Later, the police arrested the woman on charges of murder.
According to the police, the deceased identified as Satbir was an alcoholic and used to return home after boozing.
"On Friday morning, his wife Sharda sternly asked him to quit drinking else she will leave him. Despite that when the husband came home drunk late on Friday evening that triggered a verbal spat between the couple. She called up her cousins and asked them to come and take her along.
Later, the cousins kept convincing the man to quit boozing and were trying to pacify the situation," said a senior police officer of Rupwas police station. At 1.30am on Saturday, the confrontation turned violent when the woman started beating up her husband with batons. She beat him until he went unconscious, and blood started oozing out of his head. "The family members cleaned the wounds but did not take the injured man to the hospital. At 3 am, the residents in locality intimated the police. The man was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead due to profuse bleeding and grave head injury," the officer added.
