GURUGRAM: With the objective of assessing the efficacy of tablets and smartphones in enhancing the overall quality of learning among the students, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) plans to roll out a three-month-long survey in September.
The survey will select over 2,000 students as the sample size. According to SCERT officials, the survey will also assess the efficacy of the e-content and whether it has been able to improve the teaching-learning environment in government schools.
SCERT director Vikas Kalia said, "This is a diagnostic survey that will act as a reality check for us and the education department. Over the past two years, the government has distributed tablets and smartphones among the students of its with the help of private agencies. Now, we want to assess the impact of education imparted through these devices."
"Post-pandemic interventions of the education department, the SCERT has been directed to digitise the teaching-learning process in government schools and use e-content and other modules prescribed by the Union education ministry to bridge the learning gaps," said SCERT state coordinator Tanu Bharadwaj.
"Both teachers and students were trained on the use of smartphones, tablets, digital boards, and other e-content study materials. Through this survey we'll find out the challenges and opportunities in further expanding the scope of digital education in state-run schools," she added.
