Chennai: Businessman abducted for not returning Rs 1 crore, rescued; 3 held

CHENNAI: Police solved the kidnapping of a real estate businessman by arresting three people and rescued the victim within hours of his abduction from T Nagar on Saturday evening. Police launched a hunt for nine other people.
Police said Saravanan failed to repay a loan of ₹1 crore from a financier within the deadline and received a call from the financier Arockia Raj on Saturday about a new deal.
Arockia Raj and his men got off the vehicle and took the keys of Saravanan's two luxury cars, along with a watch and gold jewellery from Saravanan's house. Later they bundled Saravanan into a car and sped away. His cars were taken separately.
On receiving the information, police alerted vehicle checkpoints and intercepted the car on ECR. A special team rescued the victim and also got back his two luxury cars. They nabbed three people - Arockia Raj, Afrose, and Arvind. Further inquiry is on.
